“Could have been more indulgent”: Not Radahn, But Another Base Game Demigod Should Have Been the Elden Ring DLC Final Boss, and There’s Lore to Back It Up

Elden Ring’s recent Shadow of the Erdtree brings with itself a ton of surprises for the players, and while it might not answer some questions players have had in mind since 2022, it does put forward a pretty convincing case of why it is one of the best expansions to be released in the world of gaming.

Likewise, what took players by shock the most was the return of Starscourge Radahn, back as a consort for Miquella. However, players have been debating if another demigod, who already had the perfect stage set for a return, would have been better suited for the role.

Beginning with the prerequisites set by FromSoftware to access the Realm of Shadow, there were already speculations that the only Demigod to rival Malenia would play a significant role in the expansion.

However, as stated before, what came across as a surprise to many was him taking up the role many believed would be played by Godwyn the Golden instead, bearing in mind how the first child of Queen Marika and Miquella have always been close as hinted in the main game.

I think consort Godwyn could have been more indulgent.

Not only are there different hints that indicate how the empyrean twin had been working towards bringing back Godwyn the Golden ever since the demigod’s death on the night of black knives, but different statues in The Lands Between have always indicated how the two have remained close to each other.

It is likely to stay a mystery forever why Hidetaka Miyazaki would replace the figure of the Prince of Death with Radahn instead, despite laying the perfect groundwork for it to work out in Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

The renowned director has revealed in an interview how his latest creation will remain the only DLC for Elden Ring, which essentially means players would not be getting any answers they want until the studio explicitly decides to create a sequel for the franchise in the future.

This also means that all the mysteries of the main game that went unanswered in the Realm of Shadow are likely to stray unsolved forever, never bringing closure to the story of the Gloam-Eyed Queen, The Formless Mother, or Godwyn himself.

Using every last bit of context given in the game, the only consolation one can have at this point is to think that the outcome of the DLC was planned from the very start, and Miquella’s failure to bring back Godwyn through an eclipse marked the last attempt of bringing the demigod back to life.

Would you have liked it better if it was the Prince of Death in place of Radahn as the final boss fight in the DLC? Make sure to let us know about it in the comments below!
