The different endings to Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Elden Ring are one of the many unique elements that make the title special in its own right. However, it might just pose a hurdle for the director to come through if he wishes to create a sequel to the game, something which is very likely to happen if all goes according to plan.

There are many paths that the Elden Ring franchise could essentially travel down in the future, but the different conclusions of the storyline make it difficult for the director to choose one single post-ending scenario to focus on, leaving him with nothing but one decision to make.
What Will Hidetaka Miyazaki Have To Do To Make Elden Ring 2 Successful
Bearing in mind how it is impossible to explore the future of every different ending at once, Hidetaka Miyazaki is ultimately left with no choice but to either choose one of the 6 different conclusions to follow or just time skip far ahead into the future, so the past doesn’t matter anymore but remains significant nonetheless.
Considering how there would be a need to remove the legitimacy of all the endings as a whole, a jump of more than 1000+ years should be the bare minimum for the director to look forward to. It would help the sequel to begin from a fresh slate while still maintaining the legacy of its predecessor, posing as a win-win scenario.

Unfortunately, everything stated above remains the best-case scenario can hope for, but will go down the drain if Miyazaki decides to not make a sequel to the game at all. Luckily for fans, one of his recent statements about the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC seemingly confirms how the players might be getting not just Elden RIng 2, but a whole trilogy.
Elden Ring – Following The Footsteps Of Dark Souls?
As everybody knows, it would be essentially a mistake by FromSoftware and the director if they let go of their best-selling IP to date without working on it further. And with Hidetaka Miyazaki confirming how Shadow of the Erdtree will be the only DLC the first game will be getting, fans are now hoping the franchise would turn into a trilogy, just like Dark Souls did.

What makes fans believe that Elden Ring will be turning into a trilogy is the fact that the first Dark Souls title also had a single DLC released to its name, much like how ER will be getting as mentioned just above. If the said sequel does manage to come through as every player is hoping for, a time skip of more than a millennia should be easily manageable, considering how the first game is already based on events that happened over 5000 years ago.
Elden Ring is available to purchase on Steam.
