Assassin’s Creed Shadows is easily one of the most anticipated titles in the franchise yet, and fans are not to blame, as it is about time the series set foot in Feudal Japan. The studio has also scheduled an official trailer for the game to be released on 15th May, i.e. today, finally showcasing what Ubisoft Quebec has been working on for the last few years.

However, as the imminent leaks make their rounds on the internet, fans have begun debating if the alleged protagonist is fit for the game, arguing if it still remains historically accurate as the video game series has always strived to be.

For added context, Yasuke was a samurai of African Origins who remained prominent in the 16th century. He remains fairly relevant in the modern era as well, as proven by the current rumors stating that he is the protagonist of the next Assassin’s Creed installment.

Moreover, it has been revealed in Ubisoft’s earnings call how the said game is set to hit different platforms between April 2024 and March 2025, being the current fiscal year. What’s more intriguing is how some versions of the trailer scheduled to be released on YouTube today seemingly have a release date in the video description, which, as pointed out by this user on Twitter, states how the game is set to launch on November 15th, 2024.

For Nintendo Switch players wondering if the game will be made available on their device, the answer sadly is a no, as the game’s storefront on the Ubisoft store reveals how the title will be making its way to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, skipping out on the last-gen consoles but still covering most of the player base that the studio targets.

Fans React To Yasuke Potentially Being The Next Assassin’s Creed Protagonist

Yasuke’s presence as a Black samurai has remained a matter of controversy in the past, as while he was indeed in Japan, it is debated he was kept on a retainer rather than being a full-fledged samurai himself. Expressing how they feel about him allegedly becoming the next AC protagonist, fans had to say this-

 

Luckily enough, all facts will be coming to light as the aforementioned trailer is scheduled to release soon enough, finally revealing what the studio has in store for the fans who have been long waiting for the game to be finally unveiled.
