One of the major improvements over the original game that Blizzard promised to introduce with Overwatch 2 was how it was finally going to bring a narrative to the franchise. Unfortunately, as every player already knows, this particular promise was never realized as the idea was ultimately scrapped.

However, despite facing backlash for putting the PvE mode completely out of the picture, the director of the game, Aaron Kellar has boasted about its growing success. He mentioned that the studio plans to focus on the surviving elements in the game, which should potentially be enough to put the game on the top once again.
Director Of Overwatch 2 Talks About The Growing Success Of The Game
In an interview via GameSpot, Kellar was asked to shed light on how he feels about the overall state of Overwatch 2 and the general balance that the studio has been striving to maintain. Mentioning how the game is ‘on a roll‘, he replied-
“This is the game that everyone has been playing for the last almost eight years, and I think it’s the part of the game that makes it special and gives it its magic. Our characters–the way they control, the way that they use their abilities, and the way that they rely on their teammates to win a fight–is really special. So the team is putting a lot of time and energy into making that side of the game as good as it can possibly be, and I think we’re all really excited to continue to do that and really excited for what it means for Overwatch’s future.”
While the community might have been upset over the fact that Blizzard has completely scrapped the PvE concept, the director made note of how it still keeps on growing, and it is because the fundamental elements of the title and its characters remain the same. He further mentioned how the team is now dedicating all their efforts to finessing and perfecting this particular trait of Overwatch 2, allowing it to grow even further in the future.

While the exact reason why the PvE mode was taken out of the picture remains unknown, fans realized to some extent what the cause for the feature’s utter failure was, when it was introduced in another form.
Why Was The PvE Feature Scrapped From Overwatch 2
It has been a running rumor that one of the major reasons for Blizzard’s failure to properly implement a narrative-driven mode was because of how the first batch of single-player missions failed to drive sales. As many players would remember, the studio resorted to releasing single-player missions last year. However, after failing to attract the player base itself, the idea was dropped as a whole.

Fortunately, it is not all bad when it comes to decision-making at Blizzard headquarters. In spite of receiving constant backlash from fans for several things, the studio remains dedicated to making the game a leveled playing field for everyone. This includes how the developers have begun to crack down on players who make use of unapproved peripherals to gain an advantage over other players.
Overwatch 2 is available to download on Steam.
