One of the major video games that Bethesda has released recently is the space-exploring AAA title Starfield. However, despite taking nearly a decade to develop and produce the game, it still lacks in a few areas, ultimately prompting fans to resort to other games instead of this one for the time being.
Furthermore, a matter of concern for fans has been how the studio could have potentially invested the amount of money spent in Starfield’s development in another game, particularly Fallout 5. For added context, the Fallout series has been in the spotlight recently as the franchise just got a live-action adaptation released for fans to enjoy their favorite video game series in a new form.
Why Bethesda Could Have Potentially Focused On Fallout 5 Instead Of Starfield
While the space-exploring title might have been in development for a long period, it still held the risk of not being a blockbuster amongst the fans, which is what happened in reality, to some extent. Furthermore, Fallout has been an established franchise popular among players, and with the latest canon installment of the series coming out back in 2015, fans feel it is about time they received a sequel.
As many would know, Starfield cost Bethesda a whopping estimate of $200 million, which should have been more than enough to put through another release of the aforementioned franchise that fans have been demanding for long.
Likewise, the demand for Fallout 5 has never been higher, and it is all because of the recently released live-action series of the franchise, as discussed before. The launch of the Fallout TV series came along with another unexpected benefit, which was how it boosted the player count for all the games ever released in the franchise.
The said boost to the games has also allowed Fallout 4, a title released nearly a decade ago overtake the all-time player count record of Fallout 76 in just 24 hours. To be more specific, Fallout 4 managed to gain over 35,000 active players in a single day’s window, which is more than 76’s all-time peak ever since it was released 4 years ago.

The release of Starfield has always been a matter of debate ever since it was released. To put it simply, many gamers held high expectations from it since it was first announced. I think Starfield was pretty mid BUT I feel like it’s gonna go through a post-flop renaissance and gain a massive cult following in a few years or so, kinda like Dark Souls (if I recall, DS was not a well liked game when it first released).

Luckily, with the popularity of the said franchise on the rise once again, it remains likely the studio will start working on the requested sequel soon, delivering to fans what they have been asking for long once and for all.
